NYC pt. 3

Ok, wow, hey, how you been? It’s been a while, but you know how it is school is starting and all. My grandparents are also in town which is fun, but here is finally the last part of my NYC adventure.

Since today was the last day I decided to go somewhere aesthetically pleasing. After quite some time with researching I found a place called Remi’s flower cafe. One of the best decisions of this whole trip, it was an amazing experience. I ordered an ice chai, a rose latte, a lavender latte, and a butterfly pea lemonade. The whole store was head to toe in flowers and a great spot for pictures.

After relaxing for a little while, I decided I needed to let my inner tourist in. So I headed over to the World Trade Tower. I also went to the mall that was close by, though I didn’t buy anything it was a good place to cool down because it was a really hot day. The heat became so unbearable that I had to stop by a Starbucks, and I of course did get something from there as well. In the Starbucks I was still researching things to do in NYC for my last day and I came across the Artechouse. There was a wait time that I unfortunately had to go to the Artechouse to put my name down. So I put my name down and headed back towards the Starbucks, the Starbucks here are so flashy, I realize New York has a thing for botanical things because this Starbucks had a whole garden area. Also the Starbucks Olive oil cakes are no joke, those things are super good.

The Artechouse was super trippy, there were some parts of the experience where I felt dizzy and had to close my eyes. If you don’t know about the Artechouse, it’s basically this HUGE room that gets filled with light with a projector, and when they turn the projector on you’re surrounded by the image it produces. It’s on the floor, and walls, etc. After exiting I found myself in Chelsea Market which was way too big for my brain to process where I was going. I did find an exit, but got tempted by an Indian chaat store next to the exit, and I OBVIOUSLY went to get something. It was called Chote Miya, which I don’t know what Miya means, gentleman? Maybe, maybe not? It also said dekho magar pyaar se which I do know what that means. So I guess the Hindi lessons when I was a kid paid off. It means look, but with love, which is cute. It was street food you would find in India but with an American twist, and honestly it wasn’t bad. I ordered Masala fries that were so good, they weren’t as spicy as I would have liked but you know it’s fine.

After finding my way out I decided I’m not done being a tourist and thought what is the most touristy thing to do in NYC. The Statue of Liberty. The downside was there was a big line and it was a little hot to stand in a line. I was burning up and my back was getting all disgusting and sweaty. It was cool to see though, and I got ice cream once I made it onto the “Island?” is that what it is? Even after the Statue of Liberty, I knew, I needed to cool down or I would overheat. Calling an Uber quickly so I don’t bake in the sun’s glory and headed over to “Little India”. It’s not actually, but there were a lot of Indian restaurants in that area. I found a restaurant called Bhatti, it was chill. There were cool photos of Bollywood actors and actresses like Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra Jones. The only downside was they were playing Kidz bop which was really wonky to hear in an Indian restaurant. I ordered a Tandoori Kebab, butter chicken, naan, and Rose rasmalai, it was super good.

I ate a lot of calories and it was getting dark which meant I was leaving tomorrow, THE HORROR. However, the best way to end the day was going on a walk, if I didn’t I wouldn’t have found “Little Korea”, which really sucked because I could have gotten something to eat here, however, I did find a kpop store and bought two albums so that made up for it. It was so hard to choose what to get, especially because I appreciate the concepts of K-pop. I chose Stayc’s Staydom (a girl crush pop type of song) and NMIXX’s Ad Mare (a bad girl concept) after 30 minutes, but chaos struck when I realized I may have taken too long. The sky caved in and the rain spilled everywhere, it was officially pouring. Staying in the shop was my only option until it dried up. I recommend going on night walks, it’s breathtaking.

That is the end of my journey at NYC, but more places will come by sooner or later.

NYC pt.2

Ok, wow, I really wasn’t expecting to take that long to make a pt.2. I was busy with my internship so I’m so sorry for anyone waiting for pt.2.

Day 2 was really enjoyable, I started off the day with eating my hotel breakfast and enjoying the view that came with the room, which was very beautiful. This is why I love cities, everything is not only walking distance, but you have a nice view of skyscrapers like this. Maybe it’s because I’m from a town in the South and don’t have a city like this but I envy those who live in cities.I didn’t walk to my next destination it was a bit to0 far for that. Therefore I took an Uber to a place I really wanted to go too. It’s called the Museum of Ice Cream, it’s like this pop up museum where you can take selfies and interact with things related to ice cream, and I was really not expecting what I saw. Everything there is so well planned and it’s fun for everyone, even adults. I heard it was a fun area and really popular and they weren’t wrong. When you first enter you’re greeted with a nice gift shop related to the Museum of Ice Cream. Once you finally go inside you’re asked to write your “ice cream” name on a name tag, but I can’t really find anything ice creamy with my name, what would I say? The walls however had hints using celebrities so I did what I obviously had to do. I said Kanye Zest. After that you come into a pink room with lot of bottles. The whole experience is really pink. You do get ice cream in this room, which is good, it’s between Cherry Sorbet or some other flavor, I want to say vanilla? However, the cherry sorbet was really strong for my liking, it tasted like medicine. That’s the thing with any cherry product for me. Then you approach the “Alice and Wonderland Table Room.” That’s not what it’s really called but it gives that vibe. The food is fake as well as the balloons that are “tied” to the table and “float”. This room serves popsicles, so by the slim chance you HAVE finished your ice cream, you got popsicles. A pink glow seen from the “Alice and Wonderland Table Room” will get you ready for the next room which I call “Hot Pink Room that Made My Eyes Adjust in a Really Weird Way, and Oh Look, There’s a Door.” Yeah it’s kind of long, I need to shorten it. Past that is a room that looks exactly like a subway, which is kind of weird but it’s fun. I call this room, “Subway.” It’s a very short name that gets straight to the point. Get off the pink subway and there are clouds, it’s a very peaceful room compared to the room you walk in after the clouds. Point being said the “Clouds….clouds…..clouds” room is very peaceful and has bored games in there for some reason, but again, the clouds aren’t real tis merely an illusion of your eyes. Then comes the banana room. I like bananas and all, but this was way too many bananas. I call this room, “Banana Split.” To get to the next room you can either go through the door like a boring person orrrr you can go through a sprinkle tunnel like some cool…person. You choose. You pop out of that tunnel into a room of letters, thought you were out of school? NOPE. But the letters are cool, there are questions such as the picture below where you can write. We’ll call this room “You Mortal Thought You Were Done With School HahAhaHaAh” Then is a room where you get more ice cream, this place is quite literally a wonderland for ice cream lovers. The pop ups in this room are fun, it’s made to look like you can deconstruct the wall by scooping it and pray that it doesn’t fall on you. So welcome to the “Scoopy Room.” Then is another pink room with the history of ice cream where you can chill and eat the yummy cake flavored ice cream provided to you in the previous room and learn about ice cream, this is the “History Room AKA You Mortal Thought You Were Done With School HahAhaHaAh PT.2” After that you go through the rainbow tunnel and find yourself to the “Slide to Nowhere” room. You take a slide, too somewhere you don’t know about. Fun right! You slide down and you’re now in “Cave Man Room” where you can get more ice cream, this time soft served and also a DJ Booth down there for some reason. I skipped because I ate way too much so I passed that cause no thanks and found myself in “I’m a Clown for Turning Down Cotton Candy” room with cotton candy. There were games in that room, like a carnival. Then is the “Inner Child” room where there are swings, a ping pong table, monkey bars, and a bowl of sprinkles, as well as basketball to comfort that sweet child in all of us. Lastly, we enter the sprinkle pit, the “Sprinkle Pool that May be Full of Pee but I Don’t Care because Childhood Needs Fulfillment.”

Wow, that was…..a lot. After the Ice Cream Museum I decided to explore a bit more before lunch which made me stumble upon a very strange store with very strange items. I did buy the light bulb with the heart, that is way too cute to turn down, I also wanted the fish jug but that wouldn’t fit in my suitcase so I passed.

After that little shopping experience I headed to Chinatown for lunch. I was going to dine at Shanghai 21, and it was very popular because I had to wait a long time for seating, so while waiting I explored Chinatown and it was a whole different experience. I found a shop called Panda Ma inc and bought a ton of stuff, like a fan cause it was hot. I really wanted this sword thing but again, suitcase problems and would definitely NOT fit. I also got thirsty because the heat was starting to get to me again. I did find a place called Pink Lady Japanese Cheese Tart and I got a Japanese Cheese Tart which was Obe flavored and a Matcha tea right along with it. To my despair it was really hot in that store as well because apparently the AC was down. But finally I got my table at Shanghai 21 and had soup pork dumplings and Shanghai authentic noodles, they were so nice and gooey. I couldn’t savor it for too long, I had a busy day and I needed to catch a Broadway show.

I went to go watch Lion King, which I have to say was so amazing. They used people as animals and the way they made these people appear as animals was breathtaking. Not only that but it was a bit humorous.

After the amazing performance, I got girl rained on. I was fortunately by a Gap store, I didn’t buy anything but it was a nice shelter for a while. After the rain I decided to chill in the hotel before going to “Little India”. I spotted an XG board which made me happy because I love that group. (I’m looking at that photo and I see Elmo’s distressed face) I found an Indian restaurant in the little India named Saravanaa Bhavan, which is one of the top vegetarian Indian restaurants in the world. It lived up to the title because the food was fire. I ordered a Idli and Sambar and dosa which was so big. I ate the dosa before taking the photo. I was kind of sad that I ate the food before taking a picture to brag to my friends. However the couple sitting next to me was happy to let me photograph their dosa. I also went into Trader Joe’s for the first time, in Arkansas we don’t have those so I never grew up with a Trader Joe’s. I got some things, Trader Joe’s is just like the Fresh Market of Arkansas. Overall it was a pretty tiring day so I instantly went to sleep.

NYC pt. 1

Hey guys, I’m finally back! I’m so happy I’m back I’ve been so busy with my internship, summer camps, and volunteering, I didn’t have enough time to write anything. I finally found some time, this blog post is about going to New York, NYC. I went for my birthday which was in May but because of finals and AP testing I had to push it back until July. It was really fun, and I hope you enjoy!

It was really fun landing in New York, smooth sailing flight and nothing could have been better, I soon realized that weed was allowed in New York and I was sort of dying. The smell of weed makes my stomach and throat hurt. If you read my Paris blog you understand I don’t do well when it comes to smoke, and weed has a really unsettling smell. I also had to wear masks sometimes because of the air quality caused by the Canadian wildfires, which was disappointing but you know health first. Also, the traffic in NYC is no joke, we were in Manhattan and I was shocked by the amount of honking that took place.

The hotel was marvelous, it was a luxurious hotel called Hilton Millennium, but I couldn’t check in right away because of cleaning, so what else to do but explore? Getting tickets to the Wax Museum was one of the weirdest and best decisions of my life, I’m going to say it out there, the Wax Museum terrifies me. Why do they look so real? And they can’t move they just continuously stare at you. As I headed over to the Wax Museum, I stopped at the Grand Central Station because I’ve never been before and it was so big, so beautiful, and gave yes girl yes vibes. Also there was literally a market inside the Grand Central Station which was really new to me for some reason. It was very picture worthy though, and my sister asked for me to act like a tourist for one of her photos which was fun. The more I can pretend I don’t know her the more I can relax. I’m just joking! She’s my entertainment. You’ll understand soon enough. I also made friends with a pigeon, you know, we were bonding and then my sister decided to kick it and scare it away. Unfortunately I was in front of the pigeon so it brushed past me, which is a feeling I never want to feel again. I decided to call it Ted, say hi to Ted.

After exploring the Grand Central Station I walked over to the Wax Museum. There were some many people I could or couldn’t recognize, like right when you walk in you’re greeted by The Rock and Taylor Swift. I met many celebrities and more, like Dua Lipa, Megan Markle and Prince Harry, Katy Perry, Ariana Grande, Priyanka Chopra, Kris Jenner, Lady Gaga, Aishwarya Rai, and Rihanna. That’s quite literally only naming a few because there are SO many wax models.

There were many sections of the Wax Museum, from celebrities, to Broadway, to Presidents, to a really interesting scary section.

It was weird seeing Shah Rukh Khan looking so young. I’m so used to the older and long haired Shah Rukh Khan, but I really liked the short Bollywood section.

It was a really fun day, but I think my favorite part of the day was eating pizza. Eating Joe’s Pizza was the best idea ever. I highly recommend, it said it was a very popular pizza joint and it didn’t lie, the pizza was really good. The line was long but it went by pretty quickly and I was glad I was patient and not as hungry or else I would have hated waiting in line. As I was walking back to the hotel with the pizza I overheard someone fighting on the street but I didn’t care much about it. OK that was a HUGE lie, I’m extremely nosy sometimes so I peered to see what was happening and it was some dude arguing with a lady, and then the guy threw a shopping cart at this lady. I was like yeah we need to go right now.

That was pretty much all that happened that day, it was because that was the day we landed in NYC, so it was less busy then the other days that will be posted sooner or later. I know this blog was a little short compared to my other blogs but the first day in NYC wasn’t as busy as the other days that will be coming up. So stay tuned! Or don’t.

Big Cedar Lodge

Hi, I’m back! I know it’s been a hot minute since I’ve last uploaded, however, summer break started for me and my finals are finally over. YAY! This trip happened a few weeks back, a week before my birthday.

May 20: We, Mom, Sister, Aunt, Great Aunt, Great Uncle, and I headed off towards Branson Missouri. If you don’t know about Branson I’m just going to say, it has EVERYTHING. Theme parks, cool activities, and resturants to die for. It’s like the California of the Midwest. The ride towards Branson was about 2 hours, which was kind of rough because I was sitting in the very back and it was getting really hot. When we arrived we were greated with the gorgeous view of the lake. #onlyintheOzarks.

I’ve never been to Big Cedar Lodge before, so this was going to be a wild experience. We were going glamping. Huge tent outside, but with A BED. Before heading over we got ourselves registered in, which we didn’t think would take so long. Apparently, we went to the wrong regestration, so we were going back and forth from place to place. After all of the hecticness we met up with my sister’s friend and her family. Together, we all headed to Fun Mountain, which is SERIOUSLY so fun. On the outside it looks boring, like a farm house kind of. Inside however is a whole experience itself.

I really wanted to hit the go karts, but we ate some food before that. I got myself some chicken tenders because I love chicken and consume it 24/7. I was pretty full but decided to halt on go karts and wait until my food has stopped digesting, so I decided to play some games in the aracde with my aunt. Some of the games were really rigged *eye roll* but we did have fun. My favorite was for sure the motorcycle game or air hockey. There were also a lot of claw machines, I got plenty of candy for my sister and her friend as well as two rubber ducks that I thought I would cherish but ended up losing them. After that we did go go karting which, again, I love to race. Also, go karting really helps me right now, my driving skills are pretty good.

Since my aunt and her parents, (my great aunt and uncle) came with us last minute we decided to buy them a place that was available. That happened to be a cute little cabin. They had a nice kitchen, a nice bathroom, a very nice bedroom, and more. It looked so cozy and petite in there. If there was a thunderstorm and I was living in this house wrapped up in a blanket and holding coco, I would simply pass away. That sounds like the dream. The cabin for me is also giving van life moms. The place I was staying in, however, was a tent. In the picture below you can see, it quite literally is a tent, but with the coolest interior I’ve ever seen in a tent. (Which is the only tent honestly. I’ve never been camping or glamping before). In all of the tents and cabins were these little smore packets, but I was to scared to turn on the fire, because hello, that’s a hazard. Smoky the bear taught me better. Cold smores are still fire though.

The night was really interesting. Before going to bed we had a little scavenger hunt but since I’ve never been there before, I had NO idea where I was going. Also, this was at night. Child I couldn’t see ANYTHING. That’s why I ran straight into a muddy puddle and fell in it. Also my sleep was interesting too. I’ve never had a sleep like that. First of all, I swear to god I heard a mouse in the middle of the night, and I was about to peek over the bed and call for it like it’s Stuart Little. There was also something running back and fourth on the tents roof, which I was guessing was a squirrel? Lastly, I heard some weird cawing from outside and later found out it was my sisters friend cawing at me. Which I DO NOT appreciate. The view of the lake from my room was also super good. *sarcasm*

All put aside though, it was a nice night, and today we were going to GO back to our house, which was devastating to me. Like please no, I want to be apart of nature not humanity. We went to Blizzards bar, which was the closest breakfast restaurant in the Big Cedar area. I ordered chicken and waffles because the mix of savory and sweet is so good. I also had Nashville butter, but like what the heck is Nashville Butter? It was supposed to be a spicy butter but to me it just tasted like cholesterol and grease. I love being southern. After breakfast we decided to go on a short walk to burn off the calories that was just consumed. We found a bridge located towards a waterfall and I swear we were there for 10 minutes just taking pictures.

We had something reserved that we had to go to, it was a golf cart tour around Big Cedar. I hopped in one with my sister and her friend, Lara. Lara’s dad decided to drive us so I was ok with it. The first thing was that the gold carts were really sloooooow. Like REALLY slow. The nature around us was gorgeous though. My favorite parts of the tour has to be when we went through this tunnel. It was short but fun when it lasted. Another fav part were the numerous amount of times we drove through water. There were plenty of waterfalls for photos. One waterfall Lara’s dad decided it would be fun to just stop the gold cart under one. Lara and I were soaked. YAY. Another favorite part was this HUGE cave that we drove through. That was REALLY fun, especially because they had a bar in the cave where you could order your food from the golf cart.

I know it was short, but this was still during school days. I wish we could have stayed longer, BUT, the fun I had during that one night and two days was really fun. I would be overjoyed to go back to Big Cedar Lodge. Until then you guys have to wait for one more month until I got to New York. Don’t worry. It will come faster then you think. SAYONARA!!!

Paris pt.4

Ok, wow, who knew this would get to a part 4. Honestly, I love writing about my travels sooooo much. This is the last part of my fantastic Paris journey. We should all cry and sit in a corner while eating cake mixed with our tears. BUT we just need to wait until I go somewhere else to document about. ❤

Day 5: We went to Caratte again, they have fantastic food. Not something really filling, but enough to pass on as a snack. My sister ordered some crepes with a side of hot chocolate and I ordered some chicken finger sandwiches. They looked so cute and British and I love Great Britain so much. The food was spectacular and very flavorful. I remember distinctly I was going to sit down to eat and my mom told me to move and make room for my little sister. I guess I sounded really offended because she laughed at me, and then she got me more sandwiches. I hate to say but that made up for the whole moving thing.

The set up of Paris is also just so gorgeous. At the time we were visiting, there was a lot of garbage around because of the protests and everything. The cafes always have such a cute theme, like flowers, or a colorful palette/scheme. I was walking along the street and found this beautiful lay up of flowers. It was near the big circle street close to the Eiffel Tower. This was the area I found a truck, and like a truck truck. So far, all I’ve managed to see in Paris were things such as BMW’s, Mercedes, and Toyota’s. However, I saw a truck, such as the trucks that are very much popular here in the USA. That was the first truck I saw the whole vacation, and the vacation was almost over too. Maybe trucks are more used in the countryside, but this isn’t the countryside.

We visited a store after getting breakfast, I just wanted to walk around and burn off some of the food I ate, I wanted to work myself an appetite for some actual lunch. We ran into this combination store, which was literally two stores combined together. It was a makeup store and a macaroon store at the same time, like hello? Beauty products and food in the same store? Yes please. It was a L’Occitane and a Pierre Herme that were both combined. I guess my dad got bored because he said he wanted to do some shopping before we eventually left for the US so he headed downtown to the Lacoste. The Lacoste by the way is gorgeous. It was amazing. It was grand and big, and they had cool pop up things to flaunt off. There was even a projector showing tennis balls on the floor that were motion censored. You could quite literally kick the balls. Heading down to the mall was fun too, first off, you’re walking underground? It’s hard to explain but it was a little dark in there and when we reached it, it seriously looked exactly like a market. My sister got excited because she spotted a K-POP shelf with groups like Blackpink, BTS, Mamamoo, and ENHYPHEN.

After the long day we decided to end with a nice restaurant. We found an authentic French restaurant, it was seriously so good. Also it was so pretty inside. The vines and flowers really made it pop up, and it gave it a nice natural feeling. It was cozy too. Wanna hear a joke? What did the sunflower say to their BFF when it reached 5 feet tall? “You grow girl!” I actually cringed >.< I’m sorry that was bad. Enjoy it I guess.

My sister ordered herself a ham and swiss sandwich. I remember the menu was all French and looky here, none of my family knows French. FUN! There was an English version of the menu but it made literally no sense at all. Google Translate was our friend here. Most of the options are beef, and my family doesn’t really eat beef. The only things left were salads, chicken and a fried sandwich of some sort? The waiter gave my sister and I a non-alcoholic “mojito”. It was really good, it tasted like passion fruit and oranges. It was a nice citrus flavor that wasn’t too strong but gave enough flavor. We got an appetizer of mozzarella sticks, falafel, onion rings, and shrimp. I ordered the chicken below, it had potato and a salad on the side. My sister got the cheese ham thing? Can’t really explain it.

After the dinner, the day was finished with the Eiffel Tower and the really cool light display. Couldn’t really capture it because it was a photo, but, it’s seriously so beautiful.

I’m pretty sad that the trip has been over for like, almost a month. However, more traveling will come soon because I love to travel. So explore the world, it doesn’t have to be out of your country, or let alone the area you’re staying in. There are many gorgeous places around you that you can explore. So, have fun and let loose. BYEEEEEE <3.

Paris pt.3

It’s been a couple of days after Paris pt.2, it’s been a very busy week. AP testing and bomb threats, a lot has been going on. However, I have come back for a pt. 3 YAY!!

Day 4: The Lourve is absolutely huge, I was shocked because in the photos it normally shows the glass pyramid and I always think that’s the museum. Nah, it was everything behind too, which was so much space. The tour started outside of course and we were handed these blue, plastic earbuds that really irritated the inside of my ear. They are no joke, I hit myself on accident with them and that really hurt. There were many other people, we were all introducing ourselves, some people were from Florida (Two friends), another pair (son and Mom) were from Nevada, two from Sweden (Mother and daughter), and a group of people from some part of America, there were also people I could tell were from the South because the lady was wearing denim on denim, which was a huge southern thing.

Inside looks like a mall too, there were so many stores, for example, souvenir shops but other stores to buy clothes and food as well. At the entrance we saw this glass structure, and I must say, it’s gorgeous. Our tour guide led us inside and it was amazing.

The ceilings here were no joke, I was in awe, because one, hello? These people were really rich, because the ceiling was gold. It was very beautiful, tears stung my eyes as I said goodbye and went to the next room. The Mona Lisa room. This room had many, many, iconic portraits. I think iconic isn’t the right term, well known? Maybe? The Last Supper and others were in this room. The line for the Mona Lisa was pretty long. There was also a glass case covering her because people in the past threw soup at her and then glued their hands to the walls. Passing the Mona Lisa room was yet another beautiful room with a gorgeous ceiling and I guess I couldn’t control myself because I sang OMG by New Jeans silently to myself. I guess it wasn’t as silent as I hoped because the person in front of me from Nevada turned around and then did the OMG dance, which led me to be shook because how the heck would I know they knew that song?

We went to the souvenir shop and looked around. They had the coolest stuff, such as books and even the Mona duck. I also saw the book Madeline, which I started to fake cry because I found that book sad. We went into more shops such as Laduree, the macroon shop, and a place called Pylones where I heard the song Addiction by Doja Cat and automatically knew this was the best store. They had really cool toys and everything. I saw a plasma lightning lamp and when I touched it you could see blue electricity. I did that on my sister and said, ” I see you are going to die” and she looked so unimpressed.

As we were heading out of the Lourve, 3 out of 4 family members were hungry, I saw a sign of Amihtabh Bachchan. I was jumping up and down because a Bollywood actor has a sign in France. That’s awesome. Culturally different. We found ourselves in such a cute alleyway because we wanted to find a local restaurant, nothing touristy, is that even a word? Touristy? We did find a restaurant called Grand Mere Louise, which I highly recommend, it’s a fondue place. We had potatoes, ham, pickles, bread, and salad. It smelled kind of funky in there because of the cheese, but the food was a 10/10 so I say try this place out. Plus, the playlist at the restaurant was amazing, they played Music Session 53 with Shakira and other songs on Pop Rising. My sister really enjoyed the fondue place too, and she normally doesn’t like fondue, she liked it so much she would just stir her bread in the fondue for a long time singing, “I’ve been walking with that cheese that’s that queso.” Me personally she should have sang something like “wAe Ka la jAe MoLla ~” We then took a bus and realized the traffic was so bad.

After lunch we decided to walk to the Arc De Triumph, on the way I saw such cute cafes. Like Cafe Belloy or Cuisine Maison.

Going to the Arc De Triumph was hard because you can’t just cross the street, that’s suicide. We had to go through an underground tunnel and walk to the Arc De Triumph. It was worth it because the view was gorgeous. The not fun thing was, there was no elevator. We had to walk so many stairs. Right when you think it’s over, there’s more stairs.

In the little Souvenir shop in the Arc De Triumph I found this perfume and it smelled so good. I obviously put it on and I felt irresistible. My sister wanted to smell it too and so I was going to hand some to her but she literally hugged me and then dug her nose in my neck, which was the place I applied the perfume, and I pushed her away because that was way to uncomfortable for me. After this wonderful experience of stairs we went shopping again. My dad was complaining about how cool the Mcdonalds look here in France compared to in America. We were still walking because we couldn’t find a store to shop in which is quite a dilemma. I did run into some people speaking Marathi which was crazy and I overheard their conversation but again it wasn’t really my fault. We were pretty close to the Sephora when I saw the cutest pigeon and I had the urge to touch it. I think I said something like aww baby~ and went to touch it causing it to slip on the table and fall, which was really cute. My sister found it horrible that I did something to the pigeon. To be fair, it fell on the table, not the floor. We went inside the Sephora and it was not only huge but pretty.

Me personally I don’t wear makeup, I just don’t really like it. Before calling me a pick me girl, I have to say, it’s not good for my skin. Not because I want to be different. My sister did find something after a while and we walked to find some dinner, while looking for dinner we found a tea place that my dad really wanted to go to because he LOVES tea. We got free tea samples. I’m so happy. After thirty minutes or so we found dinner at a restaurant really close to our hotel. I guess I was choking on smoke again because I seriously could not breathe. Cigarette smoke was even inside so it was hard for me to enjoy. I was coughing a lot to the point I dropped my menu and while picking it up my phone fell. The waiter was a very kind sir, he asked if I drank too much. I can’t drink yet. The food was very good and a good way to close the day. Day 5 is going to be a sad day, it’s the day we left Paris.

Paris pt.2

Day 3: I woke up and I was EXTREMELY Jet lagged, Paris has a 6 hour time difference from my state of Arkansas, so I was tired, and didn’t want to get up, but…. it’s Paris. How could you sleep in Paris? I had a really good breakfast, there was French Toast which is so good! I definetly recommend to try the French Toast because it’s made with the French bread Broiche and it’s really soft and good. I also ordered a salmon dish with dill cream and salty pancakes which was really good and fresh. All together a great breakfast.

Today was a special day, today we were actually going inside the Eiffel Tower, which is always exciting. My sister kept freaking out cause she was scared of heights, but I really had the urge to jump off. Before you say “Hey are you ok?” I have to say I am perfectly fine, I just had this weird urge, I feel like it would be relaxing to jump off with the wind going through my hair and everything. Anyway, we were walking to the Eiffel Tower and dread creeped into me when I saw the traffic. It rained on us again as well…YAY. So we went to this little corner shop, it wasn’t really a building because everything was open. We got extra umbrella because I’m NOT willing to catch a cold. I was huddling in the corner of the store because like I said there were no walls, it wasn’t really a building, but it really looked like I was doing drugs the way I was huddled in the corner. With my raincoat over my head and my hands in front of my face, I probs looked suspicious. We were heading towards the entrance to the Eiffel Tower when someone stopped us and asked for my dad to sign a piece of paper, and I was confused. She said it was for deaf baby operation and we couldn’t really communicate with her because she only spoke French. So my dad signed it hesitantly and when we we were going to walk away, she stopped my dad and asked for us to pay, and since my dad didn’t understand that much he said I want to take back my signature, I’m not paying. It was its own ordeal, we threatened to call the cops because she started pushing my dad. My sister looked like she was going to cry. I was just really confused. We did pay. We also apologized. So tip, if someone talks to you say sorry or de sole and walk away. Or you know, don’t speak AT ALL. LEAVE IT ALONE. Later we kept walking and we found a souvenir shop under the Eiffel Tower, and since I was FREEZING I bolted towards the shop and it felt so nice because of the huge heater and everything, but so many people were crowded in such a small area I felt like my privacy bubble was cracking. It’s like that feeling of going to the pool during a really hot day and trying to dodge little kids peeing.

Going on the elevator of the Eiffel Tower was honestly kind of scary, it was shaking a lot. I was honestly shocked when we got off though, the second floor of the Eiffel Tower looks like a freaking mall, there were stores, bathrooms, resturants too, and the view was amazing. There was a macroon shop and a pizzeria. There was more though, there was a whole other elevator to the tippy top, and that’s the one I got on. I was singing Up! by Kep1er the whole time, we were going so high. On our way to the elevator my mom pointed to a screen and said oh por favor is please in French too? Which took me by surprise cause I thought it was something totally different, so I looked and then I was really confused because the language on the board was just normal Spanish. I told her por favor is just Spanish. Some random lady even said that too.

The top was really high. I was taking this picture when water splashed me from nowhere and I was SO CONFUSED. It wasn’t even raining at the moment. However, you could see EVERYTHING from the top, from the Arc de Triumph, Notre Dam, and even the Lourve. I was excited and happy. It was so cool, and I was also excited to get down, because I felt like the Eiffel Tower was swaying and I was like heck nah. I guess I was a little to happy because I decided to run down the stairs, bad idea, I literally slipped because it was still wet from the rain and I luckily caught the railing. This always happens to me, I die and then I actually DoN’t DiE aNd iT’s aNnOyInG. I had another almost die moment when we were in the elevator and it started moving WITHOUT TELLING ANYONE, and so I wasn’t holding onto anything and I stumbled, my sister did too, and when we reached the bottom it made us stumble again, except my sister actually fell on someone and I hit the window.

We went back to the hotel after that, and we went down to the hotel resturant to order some coffee and just settle down. My dad ordered his normal decaf and my mom a cappuccino, I wasn’t that hungry at the moment so I skipped, and my sister wasn’t feeling like drinking at the moment. My dad however did let us take a sip of his decaf and I didn’t really like it. It was so bitter and gross. My sister tried and her face looked like she wanted to throw up and then she smiled like she had something sour and said it was so good.

The same day we decided to go on a boat ride, and it was a really nice boat ride, I really wanted to reanact the Titanic scene with my sister but she fell asleep. The crepes on the boat are also really really good, I seriously love the crepes here, they’re buttery and thin, and just, mwah perfect.

After the nice and relaxing boat ride we went to a very famous macaroon shop in France which was Laduree, and dude, the macaroons are so good. Especially the strawberry candy one and Marie Antoinette Tea, those two are my favorite. Starting top left and going down we have Raspberry, Rose, Marie Antoinette Tea, and orange blossom. Top right and going down we have strawberry candy, passion fruit, black current, and vanilla.

We also had dinner at the resturant right next to Laduree called Le Deauvill, I ordered the Pizza and my sister ordered a pasta and we shared. I recommend to sit inside if you have trouble with smoke like I did, we sat in the outside resturant part which is literally a tent but everyone was smoking in there and I was having a hard time.

After eating we explored and I’m not joking, the stores here look so freaking cool. Like the inside of Nike literally had a photo area and a yoga session going on. Louis Vitton had a LITERAL lady on their building painting dots.

I was seriously distracted by the shops windows that I almost got hit by a car, my dad literally pulled me back. I wanted to reanact myself in a Kdrama by saying oppa did you just save me and then strike a Debbie Ryan ear tuck pose. But it was my dad and I’m not doing that. Despite almost getting run over, I had a fun day. Day 4 was a little more peaceful because we went to Lourve, and that day was my absolute favorite because I not only saw art but I met a Bunnies! (New Jean fan) and we might have become friends. So stay tuned for that!

Paris pt.1

I recently got back from my trip in Paris and it was so fun, in this blog I’ll tell you everything that happened and even tips as well if anyone thinks of going. First thing I have to point out is during my trip I met no rude French person talking bad about me because I don’t know French. The people were really nice in my experience.

Day 1: When we landed in Chicago we had to go to the other side of the airport, and if you’ve been to the Chicago airport, it’s so unnecessarily big. To get to our gate we had to go through a glass hall and when I tell you that was bright, that was BRIGHT. Passing the glass halls we were close to the united club when I heard people right next to me speaking in Hindi. I didn’t mean to drop in and hear their conversation, but what can I do? If I happen to understand them it’s not my fault. Trilingual issues, am I right?

The flight was from Arkansas to Chicago which my sister wouldn’t stop saying OMG THE HOUSE OF JOHNNY SUH. The flight was about 2 hours and pretty smooth other then that last minute unexpected turbulence that accidentally made me slap my sister. As it would any day, the view from the plane of Chicago was so pretty. I know the photo below looks edited; that was the first thing that popped up in my head when I took the photo. I kid you not: I think the sun really liked me that day. Taking this picture was a lot of work because my sister didn’t want to share the window for some reason. She literally grabbed my face and pushed me away so she could have the window to herself. That’s probably another reason I’m surprised the picture is good. I only had 2 seconds before I got my head dragged out of the way.

In the plane to France from Chicago I was shook. THE PLANE WAS SO COLD. SHIVER ME TIMBERS I WAS FREEZING. Other than that the plane ride was fine until….it wasn’t. I finished watching Coraline, because Netflix took it off the platform and I was happy one of my childhood movies was there. Dinner was being served at that time and I was having the weirdest chest pain. The flight attendant put my butter chicken on my table but I seriously couldn’t eat it because one my chest was hurting really badly and two it’s airplane food. I thought I was going to die. I’m not even joking. I was like thisclose to dying, no space needed. I was literally thisclose. I thought I was having a heart attack, but my mom reassured it was because I was wearing tight jeans in the plane. Lesson 1 I learned that day, I shouldn’t be dumb and wear tight clothing on an overnight plane ride. So I changed my pants because I’m not doing that feeling of dying the whole plane. That feeling of dying and then not actually dying. Just let me die, don’t send mixed signals like that.

Day 2: Day 2 we landed. I was looking outside, or trying to look because I had a seat in the middle aisle, and I kid you not but the trees looked like the trees in Arkansas. I know what you’re thinking, but GIRL they’re trees, yes I know I know. However I thought Paris would have different trees ya know. For example, you won’t find palm trees in the middle of Paris. (EDIT: WE FOUND PALM TREES) In the airport there are these really cool escalator without steps things. I felt like a hamster going through them.

Outside we found an uber and in the car my dad said we’re going to hear a lot of French, and in my head well no duh WE ARE IN FRANCE, they’re not going to speak German or Marathi, or even Italian, but my mouth went, yes father. In the uber we were going over French, because we had too or you know so we thought. The Uber driver was from Turkey and gave us tips on French. My dad asked me what hello was and I was shocked because I literally just said it, so I said bonjour cause maybe he didn’t hear me, and then he literally said ok, so what’s bonjour? Do you know how shocked I was? I literally cried. I told him it’s hello and I literally just said that and then he looked at me seriously and said then what’s wassup in French. haha, DO I LOOK LIKE I KNOW FRENCH? Point being said he got the point because I was too silent. We passed many stores like Monoprix.fr which I literally thought said Monoprix.fry for a second and oh my nails which my sister sang omg by New Jeans but with nails. Oh my oh my nails. Amma amma god.

France is super picturesque and seeing such an amazing view and being able to see this made my heart happy.

Our hotel was Canopy by Hilton and it had a nice view of the Eiffel Tower from the really top, especially at night. There were two French flags but at night they looked like the flags of Chad, like the country. It was really trippy. Go back to the afternoon when we went to our room, right when the elevator opened it was pitch black and for a split second my horror movie loving brain suddenly thought, murder mystery, like I was about to die, this is where I die, I’m going to have my neck slashed. Then the lights turned on because….they were automatic…oop…embarrassing. I had lunch in the hotel restaurant and omg I was so surprised because the food looked so fancy, I mean we’re in France obvi it’s going to be fancy, but I kid you not at, it was not only delicious but good looking.

After food we went to the Eiffel Tower, not inside, but you know from a distance to bask in it’s glory. It’s really pretty. Also the weather here is like Arkansas, it can’t make it’s mind up, it will rain for 5 seconds and then stop and be sunny. My dad went back to the hotel to get his sunglasses because it was sunny but when he came back it was super cloudy. We got rained on more than once. YAY, I honestly don’t mind, I love the rain. One thing though that I have to point out, and this is a tip as well. DON’T RENT A CAR. We didn’t thankfully but seriously the driving here is crazy, there are like no rules on the street. It’s crazy, it’s not like India but NOT like USA. AT ALL. Made me less nervous about being paranoid while driving in Arkansas. I almost got run over by a motorcycle trying to cross the road.

We went to a very famous bakery which was really close to our hotel, it’s called Caratte. It’s really good. Bad thing is, it’s Europe and a lot of people smoke. Which I can’t handle. I don’t have asthma, but whenever I smell smoke my throat gets dry and I cough….a lot. My chest feels like fire. Like the plane incident, I feel like I’m about to die. We ordered hot chocolate with cream and awwwwww the tiny spoons are so freaking cute. They’re so tiny and I love them. I also got something called a Delice Framboises. It’s like two macaroon tops smushing raspberries and pistachio cream. It was good! Day 3 was crazy, got in a fight with some French lady, and ate good food, and casually choking from smoke. Stay tuned for part 2 where I’ll explain day 3 a little bit more.

San Diego and San Fransisco pt 3

Ok, been a while since I posted last, I’ve been busy with resume building YAY.

January 1st, the day we got to go home HUZZAH! San Diego to Denver was smooth sailing and everything was fine. All we needed to do now was get the connecting flight from Denver to Northwest Arkansas. However, I didn’t realize that we would have to wait in Denver for FOUR hours. 4! It was too much, sitting in a chair, restless, tired. The time did come when we got to board and when we did I relaxed and settled down. We were sitting for a while and I was getting a bit annoyed and then the Captain called and said, “Yo, we need fuel.” So I was like chill chill,I don’t want to crash get the fuel, just hurry it up ya know. WE WAITED FOR TWO HOURS. On the plane! Do you know how uncomfortable planes are? The seats are weird and no leg space. After two hours the pilots said everyone has to go off because the captain and flight attendants ran out of hours which literally means that their shift ended. Excuse me????? I was going to throw a fit, very childish I know, but they wouldn’t let us get our luggage back, and at this point it was like 12:00am. Did I mention that my dad took another flight? While we were going to Denver straight to Northwest Arkansas my dad was going through Dallas because we got tickets separate. Since we couldn’t get the luggage back we had to book a hotel last minute and get the toothbrush there. We managed to befriend a man and his two daughters who were about the same age as me at that time and we shared our rage together. We decided to meet at the hotel that we both booked because that’s the one the airport gave us and if not see them then, then in the morning. I seriously hated the experience but the bed was nice so it kind of made it up.

January 2nd, HUZZAH OUR FLIGHT WAS DELAYED, but I was asleep. Thank god it was delayed, I got more sleep, I was really cranky from lack of sleep last night or technically morning. Yes, I wasn’t glowing with beauty like I normally do *hair flip* Time skip to when we reached Arkansas, my dad was there because he got there last night. I was pretty anxious though, my bag was too big so they put it with the rest but I don’t trust United Airlines that much with my bag so when we were exiting the airplane they took out one bag that was supposed to be a check in literally, and I’m not joking, one bag, only ONE came out and most people were literally so confused looking around going to baggage claim. It was chaos. We stood next to the baggage claim and waited for 15 minutes and nothing showed up, I was like, okkkk, I lost my suitcase, cool cool. I got it back, eventually.

That was a great way to start the year, lost luggage. Lost luggage. Tired. Lost luggage. United airlines. Delay. HUZZAH. I also got family and friends which was a nice way to start. I guess it was a balance. Like Yin and Yang.

San Diego and San Fransico part2

Lara and my sister were so loud when I was TRYING to sleep. We had to wake up fairly early and since our plane landed at night I really wanted the rest, especially because I love my sleep. I value my sleep. So on December 28 we woke up really early and headed into the SUV house to drive to the zoo, which was HUGE. We had a tour guide because there is no way someone could find their way in the zoo. The tour guide was driving in a golf cart/ ATV looking thing, which was convenient because now, I don’t have to walk. There were many sections, our first stop was the Asian Passage, I was expecting elephants but I guess I’m…what’s the word…dumb? And elephants are in the African section, but to be fair India has many elephants and India isn’t in Africa. There were snow leopards and red pandas, like Turning Red. We also saw this bird eat a mouse which was so cute. The bird apparently didn’t like the mouse though because it threw it up but then ate it again, which wasn’t so cool but more disgusting. My favorite exhibit though has to be the Polar exhibit. I couldn’t see the polar bear as well because it was hiding a lot but the little glimpses I did get I could tell this thing was massive. Bigger probably then the SUV house/tank we rented. When we exited the zoo guess what happened! Nothing, it just rained. I was determined and motivated to get into the car, but not because I was wet, I love the rain. My legs were just crying. When we were almost to the car my sister saw something and physically attacked me and said “Look it’s a Blackpink mask on that lady.” Which is normally what you wouldn’t say, you would normally say that lady has a Blackpink mask and I WAS about to say that but she wouldn’t let me talk. Every time I was going to speak she kept saying Blackpink is the revolution.

At the winery, on the 29th. The adults were tasting the wine which why are we here, it’s not like I can taste it, I’m a minor. I was waiting for pizza because, hello, I love carbs. The wine smell however was very not so yummy tummy tee hee see what I did there. If you got that, you’re my friend. Anyway, back to the story, my sister literally ruined the surprise because she said, “Is that Macie?” I was like where girlie where. I saw her dad waving frantically and I saw her walk through the door, and I was speechless, excuse me? What am I supposed to do with my legs? At the end we literally ran into each other, it hurt my face but I was crying so it’s fine. My dad was even crying at the sweet embrace, do YOU KNOW how HARD it IS to make an INDIAN DAD CRY? Preston, her younger brother was there and everything was so nice, until the winery people yelled at us because Meera and Lara were acting like children, because they are, and played tag. Macie did later kidnap me into her car because ya know how it is, we were having a sleepover. She lives in Temecula which was an hour or something away from where we were, and there was traffic so it was pretty long. I was in the car with Macie and her mom and Preston was with his dad and older brother, who’s in college, Dylan. The drive was nice, until it wasn’t because I had to pee. The conversation actually went like this. “I have to pee.” “Me too.” “How much longer?” “Until the age of time.” ??? Wot does that MEAN? Then her mom said 20 minutes and I was like ok cool cool I’m ok. We were stopping at a Middle Eastern restaurant because that’s what dinner was going to be so while Macie’s mom was picking up the food, Macie and I ran for the bathroom.

Back in the car Macie’s mom said this is very uncommon weather and that’s when I was like great I messed up the weather by bringing the Arkansas weather to California. Other than that, the night was nice and quiet. Preston, Macie, and I all settled down for a horror movie but Preston quit mid way because they were cutting ears, tongues, and plucking out eyes. After the movie we talked and talked and I was like dang the tea has been spilled. Also randomly at 10:00 or maybe later my mom texted me saying our flight was cancelled, which NAUR~ why. We were supposed to fly on Friday but now it was cancelled to Saturday, and Macie and I might….MIGHT have another sleepover.

The 30th, we were in Legoland, HUZZAH. It was boring cause it’s for kids but huzzah. Before that Macie and I got Starbucks and then they dropped me off at Legoland. Preston and I were begging for another night, and my mom understood, I mean she lived under her best friends roof for a few days, AKA Prajakta’s. I said my farewells and I went towards the entrance of Legoland. All of the rides were for little kids so none of the rides were thrilling for me. Except for the first one, it had a huge drop and it was so fun, but then it got boring because it was on one level. Lara was freaking out and sobbing which is weird because she’s been on a bigger roller coaster in Myrtle Beach and was fine, like lady? We did get the photos of the ride and it was so funny, I looked like I was kissing the sky, Meera was biting her lip and one eye was partially closed and the other wide open, and Lara had tears in her eyes. The girls got their “Drivers Licenses?” and I did manage to stay another night with Macie. That night was CHAOTIC because at one point I brought up about being Asian and she was like no you’re not. The conversation was so funny. “MY dad being the Asian he is..” “Wait you’re Asian?” “Yeeeeaaaahhh.” “But I though you were Indian.” “… India is in Asia, I’m South Asian.” The conversation actually reminds me of that one vine where the girl says to her brother, “Hey, I’m Lesbian.” and the brother was like, “I thought you were American.”

December 31st, the Friday we were supposed to go back home, I left Macie’s house and we booked a hotel. In the car however, Lara was telling me we were sleeping in different hotels, which took a minute to process because normally we do everything together. I felt pretty cranky, and my head kind of hurt so I just laid in bed and watched a K-Drama while my sister was blaring Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. I was getting restless and bored but the adults planned something for us kids and we were going… drum roll please….ICE SKATING. It was fun, it wasn’t raining which was a win, like slayyyyy. However, I did really suck, it’s been a while, but after a few minutes I got a little better. I wasn’t Sunghoon but sure, I was ok. I was zooming until I wasn’t because my foot was throbbing and it was disgusting because I had a huge blister. However, from there the trip only escalated, and in a bad way too.
